Charles Phillips is an independent consultant specialising in sustainable development, climate policy, and clean energy in Saudi Arabia and the GCC. He is a regular keynote speaker, host, and moderator at major sustainability conferences in the region and has presented television documentaries on Saudi Arabia's transformation.
He holds a Master's degree in Middle Eastern Studies from Oxford University, where his research focused on Saudi Arabia's climate change policy and economic diversification. Based between Oxford and Riyadh, he has worked extensively across the Middle East, Africa, and China.
His areas of expertise include climate and sustainability policy, clean energy, sustainable transport, Saudi Arabia's giga projects, and the Kingdom's tourism and heritage sectors. In 2023, he spent four months travelling across Saudi Arabia to document heritage sites and giga project developments.
Charles advises international clean energy and sustainability companies on expanding into Saudi Arabia and the GCC, supporting market entry, partnerships, and engagement with government entities and major projects. He also advises government entities and major projects on sustainability strategy. Charles has an extensive network across the Kingdom spanning major projects, companies, and institutions.
